After farewelling to our travelling companions, we departed from Delhi airport for our flight to Bagdogra and our connection to Siliguri where we were to spend the night in readiness for our next adventure to Darjeeling.

Our visits to various tombs and temples during our recent trip to India was balanced by visits to four wildlife parks for a total of six safaris in which there were supposedly ‘generous numbers of tigers and leopards’. We looked forward to spotting and photographing these beautiful animals in the wild, only to be disappointed.

The first day of our recent visit to India were spent in Delhi, the capital of this vast populous country. The only way to describe the experience is that it was a total assault on the senses. With a population of 33 million, I was expecting a significant contrast with home, but nothing could have prepared me for the onslaught.
